Photography Artist Statement 

 

     Everyday I work harder to become a better artist. My goal as an artist is to create art that moves people. I want to photograph a person, place, or thing that people can view in different ways. My goal is to create an art piece that makes people question, who, what, when, where, why, and how? Film photography is new to me in my life. When I started photo in the beginning of the year I had no idea what to expect. The outcome of my experience had been fulfilling. The knowledge I have of film photography will never leave me. My absolute favorite part about film photography is when the 5x7 film paper is placed into the developer and you watch the picture come to life. It fascinates me everytime and never gets old. I will achieve my goal by trying harder everyday and trying new things and always looking at things in different perspectives.

     My influences in my life depend on the approach I want to take in my art piece. I love to look at famous photography but sometimes it’s hard for me to get an original idea because I would want to mock the photographer. My art teachers influences me in become open and expressing myself in my art. My family influences me by making me try harder and always do my best.

     My current photo piece is from a studio shoot my class did in early spring. My current artistic interests are in natural beauty. Annie Leibovitz does a phenomenal job of photographing natural beauty. You can see some of her woke in the famous fashion magazine VOGUE . I love seeing photogragraphy of women with no makeup on and have a strong pose. I hope that the viewer gains a different perspective on life by looking at my page. My photography experience this year has been phenomenal. I’ve learned many things that I will continue to use in the future. Personally become a more creative person with film photography as a skill. I like to think of my work as “thinking outside the box.” I like to take my own spin on the assignments.
