About Me

My name is Rania AbdelQader. I am currently a student at Clarkstown North High School. I live in a not so small town called Clarkstown. Ever since I was little I was interested in all different types of art. Me being one of the younger kids in my family I always looked up to my siblings, who also took art classes at the same high school as myself, and was fasinated with the art work they were assisgned and always wanted to make my own. When I first entered high school I didn't know what to expect from studio ceramics but I loved the idea of using clay to create a 3D art piece. Most of my pieces are based on my life or just an idea in my head. I try not to make my pieces too simple because I like to challenge myself. Some other facts about myself are that I am muli-cultural. My father was born and raised in the Middle East and my mother was born here but my grandmother was born in Puerto Rico and my grandfather in Czechrepulic. I was born in Queens New York but then moved to Amman Jordan when I was two. I lived there with my family for one year and then moved to New City and have been here ever since. Ever since I started school art was my favorite class. Some of my art work from elementary school made it into the New City Library Art Show. When ever I can I like to draw but I think sculpting clay is my favorite type of art. What I like about it is how I make the clay with my bare hands and it's 3D so you can actually touch it in addition to that a big reason why I love ceramics is the functional aspect. I draw my inspiration to my art through my personal interest and experiences. I like to make pieces that can have not only a personal connection to myself but also to the other people who see my work aswell. I also find inspiration through other artist such as Judy Moore, and my teacher Ms.Dunn. I hope in the future to be an inspiration to others.
